Follow our guide of packing tips and tricks for a smooth relocation.

There are several things that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to the packing process. Organization and being time-efficient are crucial steps you need to take in order to make sure your relocation goes as smooth as possible. Let’s first break down the moving process into its most basic segments:
· Organization and planning
· Packing your belongings
· Transportation to your new location
· Unpacking
· Moving in

Step 1: Organize all of your belonging and see how much you have

Before you start purchasing any moving supplies and packing boxes, you need to see how much furniture and other items you actually own. People often fail to judge how much packaging materials they need. They end up either buying too much or too little. Make sure to also get rid of any items you might no longer need after your relocation. It’s a good idea to go over all of your possessions and to get rid of the ones you no longer need or use. You can always donate all of that stuff to a good cause, such as a charity!

Step 2: See how much packing supplies you need (and what kind)

After you’ve decided how many things will be transported to your new home, it is time to start getting packing materials. The most essential things that you will need will be: moving boxes (of various sizes), duct tape, packaging material (foam peanuts, Styrofoam, etc.), wrapping paper, and so on. After you have obtained all of the necessary packing supplies, you can move onto the next stage, which is the actual packing process.

Step 3: Packing your belongings

This is probably the most difficult part of your entire relocation, because you need to work time-efficiently and carefully. It’s a good idea to start with the more fragile and delicate items, such as glassware, china, expensive art, etc. You can learn more about how to pack your fragile belongings in our other blog posts. After you have packed up everything that needs special attention, you can move onto packing bigger pieces of furniture. Do not try to lift heavy objects by yourself, as you can seriously injure your back by doing so. Make sure to have someone with you who is capable of lifting heavy objects. It’s also a good idea to have someone help you out during the packing process, as it can get quite boring and monotone. Make sure to have frequent breaks in order to eat some food and refresh yourself with a cold beverage.
