Cross Country Moving Company Helps Fight Hunger across the Nation

According to estimates, one in every ten Americans is hunger stricken. This means that more than 40 million people across the United States are deprived of regular daily meals. Hunger has long been a problem in our society. Although not always obvious and visible, it strikes a large portion of our nation. People of all races, ethnicities, genders, and professions suffer from it. It can have adverse effects on those who starve. Research has shown that adults who suffer from hunger have shorter life spans, are generally more prone to diseases, and lead unhappier lives. Hunger can have even more detrimental effects on children.

A child who lacks essential nutrients is more likely to fall way behind its peers when it comes to physical and mental development. Hunger is not only a problem for the individual, or the government. We should all take part in helping those in need. We believe that we can all make a difference in somebodies life. That is why we at Cross Country Moving Company have joined forces with the Move for Hunger organization in an effort to fight hunger.

Move for Hunger is a non-profit organization that works together with moving companies across the country. In their joined efforts, they collect non-perishable food items and deliver them to food banks all across the United States and Canada. So far, they have joined forces with more than 700 moving companies, and Cross Country Moving Company is proud to be a part of this battle.

As a successful national moving company, we believe it is our duty to give back to the society. And what better way to do so than to help those who need it the most? In the first of the hopefully many collaborations between Cross Country Moving Company and Move for Hunger, we managed to raise and deliver almost 4,000 pounds of unperishable food. This is enough to feed more than 3,500 people!

We may have managed to collect a large amount of food, but we are far from done. This is only the beginning of a long battle. All our clients are welcome to join us in our efforts to end hunger in America. We will be providing all our customers with materials tailored to educate and raise awareness about this huge problem. Everyone who hires Cross Country Moving Company will be given the opportunity to contribute by donating non-perishable food on their moving day. This service is completely free, and will help all our clients make a difference in someone’s life. Non-perishable foods accepted by the Move for Hunger organization include:

– Canned and frozen meats and fish
– Canned meals (such as beans, low-sodium soups, and stews)
– Canned fruit in their own juice or water
– Canned vegetables with no or little sodium
– Pasta, either dried or canned
– Peanut and other nut butters
– Crackers, granola bars, nuts, dried fruit, and other healthy, non-perishable snacks
– Canned foods with pop-top lids
– Olive and canola oil
– Whole-grain low sugar cereals
– Honey
– Rice, flour, and sugar in moderate quantities

Note that soda or candy are not accepted by food banks in America. This holds true for foods in glass containers as well, as these are easily breakable. Foods in glass containers can only be donated if they are additionally protected from breaking. Feel free to ask our professional packers about the ways in which you can do this. If you are unsure about whether an item you would like to donate will be accepted by food banks, feel free to contact our representatives or the Move for Hunger organization.

Cross Country Moving Company pledges to continue collaborating with Move for Hunger in an effort to help those in need. This was only the first joint action of many to come. If you are interested in helping, feel free to contact our representatives. They will happily answer all your questions. Additionally, the Move for Hunger website http://www.moveforhunger.org/ provides valuable information regarding the ways in which you can join the fight against hunger.

Cross Country Moving Company would like to thank all Move for Hunger employees, and especially Kara Sendell, who took time to organize the event. They have all been more than helpful on this journey.

Are you planning to move to another state? Then give Cross Country Moving Company a call and help someone along the way. Moving companies do not transport food items, either way, so instead of throwing them out, donate them to someone in need. In today’s dog-eat-dog world, it is all too easy to turn a blind eye when it comes to our fellow Americans who suffer. We all have a duty to give back to the community, and what better way to do so than to help someone who needs it? Cross Country Moving Company representatives will be glad to answer all your questions regarding our collaboration with the Move for Hunger organization. They will also provide you with additional details about the ways in which you can help. All you need to do is give Cross Country Moving Company a call.
